No, this is funny.

by folkbum

My new friend/ stalker/ adversary/ source of amusement, Aaron Rodriguez, has an "article" up making fun of Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson's campaign for writing a press release in advance of an event, something that happens, you know, all the time. Here's a screen shot of what I saw when I was at his website tonight. It might be hard to read (click for a bigger image), but I've blown up the relevant sections.

Also, Aaron neglects actually to link to the jsonline post he copies in its entirety, which is here. That's not funny; that's just rude.

folkbum v. Irony

by folkbum

As previously mentioned, I am pretty well-trained in irony, and Justice Scalia is really not the only person who's going to be dealing with a gigantic dose of it in the near future.

This week I go in for an exam of an even more invasive nature than our good friend Christian Schneider recently underwent. In order to have this procedure, I need to be, well, empty.

The name of the concoction that will create the emptiness? Golytely. I kid you not.

So, anyway, pretty slow blogging from me all week, for obvious reasons.

Found Poetry

by folkbum

A new semester started for me today, and I have picked up a section of creative writing. Irony is one of my favorite literary tools, so I turned this news item into a found poem:
A News Van

A news van
remains partially submerged
in Big Muskego
Lake today after
it broke through
the ice Sunday
afternoon while out
for a story
about
ice
safety.
I think it works.

Mexican Flags

Lately, there's been quite the dust-up over the whole Mexican flag thing. For example, Patrick McIlheran complained about the flags coming out during protests last week. Peter DiGaudio, too, wonders "What's with waving the Mexican flag? You are giving the middle finger to Mexico by leaving and supposedly want to be Americans. Why not wave the American flag?"

I have to say I might be coming around on this issue. I think that anyone who walks around waving the Mexican flag should face consequences. If they work for the federal government, in particular, they should be fired.
